Nothing Leaves Your Device
Field Audit is an offline-first Android app. It does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything you create — projects, issues, photos, signatures, PDFs — stays on the device you installed the app on.
The installed app holds no Android permissions at all — no INTERNET, no background services, nothing. You can confirm this on your phone under Settings → Apps → Field Audit → Permissions.
Who runs Field Audit
Field Audit is published by Right to Own LLC. A contact email for questions about this policy will be published here before the app’s public release on Google Play.
What data Field Audit collects
None that leaves your device.
The app is a self-contained inspection tool. It has no user accounts, no sign-in, no cloud sync, and no telemetry. It does not contact any server during normal use. For the app to work, it stores the following on your device only:
SQLite)Android/data/com.fieldaudit.app/files/backups/. Backups are created only when you tap Back up now; nothing is scheduled or runs in the background. The 20 most recent are kept. Uninstalling the app deletes this folder along with everything else.Documents/FieldAudit/ folderDocuments/FieldAudit/<project>/<date>/ — only created when you tap Export All PhotosNothing in the table above is sent to us, to a third party, or to any remote server.
What Field Audit does not collect
- No name, email, phone or other contact information about you
- No location data (the app does not request location permission)
- No advertising IDs or device identifiers
- No analytics, crash reports or performance metrics
- No usage events or “app open” pings
- No microphone, contacts, calendar or SMS access
- No third-party SDKs that collect data on our behalf
Permissions the app requests
The installed app holds no Android permissions. No INTERNET, no ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, no WAKE_LOCK, no background-service permissions — nothing. The app literally cannot make a network request, keep your phone awake, or run while the app is closed.
You can confirm this at Settings → Apps → Field Audit → Permissions on your device after installing.
Two things that look like permissions but are not declared by the app:
Documents folder via Android’s scoped MediaStore API. No broad filesystem access is requested. How long data is kept
For as long as you keep it.
Projects, issues, photos and signatures live on the device until you delete them in the app or uninstall Field Audit. Uninstalling the app removes all of its private data, including the local backup folder. PDFs you saved to Documents/FieldAudit/ and photos you exported through Export All Photos are your own files; your device manages them, and uninstalling Field Audit does not delete them.
Android’s own backup and transfer systems are disabled for this app. The manifest declares allowBackup="false" with explicit rules that exclude every storage domain from both Google’s cloud backup and Android’s phone-to-phone transfer. Google will not copy any of Field Audit’s data to your Google Drive, and your data will not be carried across when you set up a new phone from an old one. The only way data moves between devices is a backup file you explicitly share (see below).
Inside the app, you have several ways to control retention: delete an individual photo, issue or project; archive an older project to its own screen; Clear All Projects in Settings to remove every project while keeping your saved lists, signature and company settings; or Erase All App Data to wipe everything at once.
Moving to a new phone
Because Android’s own backup is disabled, a new phone starts with an empty Field Audit install. To bring your work across, you share one of the app’s own backup files to the new device:
- On the old phone, open Settings → Back up now.
- Open View backups, tap Share on the newest snapshot, and send the file to the new phone — cable, email, messaging, a cloud drive, anything that works.
- On the new phone, install Field Audit, open Settings → View backups, tap Import backup… and pick the file.
This is the only route by design — your data never leaves the device automatically, so you choose when and how it moves. If you uninstall the app without sharing a backup first, there is no copy to come back to.
Children
Field Audit is a professional inspection tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone.
Your rights
Because all your data stays on your device, you have direct control over it:
- Access — open the app; that’s where your data lives.
- Export — use the in-app PDF export, photo export, or JSON backup to copy data out.
- Delete — delete individual records in the app, or uninstall to wipe everything.
- Portability — the JSON backup is a plain file you can share to any other app or device. The Moving to a new phone section above walks through it.
You don’t need to ask us to exercise these rights. The app gives you direct control. If you’d still like to contact us about them, use the email at the bottom of this page.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the updated version will replace this one at the same URL, with a new Last updated date at the top. Material changes — anything that changes what data the app collects, where it goes, or who it’s shared with — will also be called out in the app’s release notes on Google Play.
